Pre-Digital Photographic Technology

 

    1.  In this picture includes a big body of water. With trees and bushes. On top of having rocks around. Also a beautiful view of the blue sky and some light shining through the middle.

    2. In this photo it is a moment of tranquility, Such soothing and calming vibes. You could tell even if you weren’t here at that time it was taken. Because from just looking at the water you can see how still it is. There no currents whatsoever. It was also very quiet.

    5. This photo was taken because It was the best moment I have ever experienced. Ive never been in a place like this. Nor have I felt this tranquil in a place so clean and soothing. Like I was in a different world. Especially surrounded by nature.

    The photographic technology that I chose was the Leica 35mm cameras. First off I chose this camera because by the looks of it, it is very vintage and still somewhat rustic which I love. On top of the size and how it weighs is my type of style. Especially with the lens and how it overall looks as a camera. Getting more into the features that this camera has it is very important. Oskar Barnack decided to build a fast, lightweight, portable camera to compete with the heavy camera equipment. He basically invented this Leica camera during the 1950s that influenced and started this whole brand.  I believe that this pre-digital photographic technology affected photojournalism because it made it easier for photographers to take the camera with them wherever they go and how handy the camera is, on top of the quality of the camera. Especially compared to those old cameras back in the day that would take forever just to take, and how long it takes to fully be clear after taking the photo. For instance from the content “The wet Collodion Process” This whole process takes forever. First they have to prepare the plate. Then sensitize the plate. Then expose it, Next developing the plate and lastly varnishing the plate. Now compared to today we don’t have to go to a dark room or wait for the picture to set and dry and all. It is literally just with a click of a button today. Although, the invention of the high tech camera today could have not been able to create these without the inventions before hand. For instance the “Weegee” “His photographs' ability to navigate between these two realms comes from the strong emotional connection forged between the viewer and the characters in his photographs, as well as from Weegee's skill at choosing the most telling and significant moments of the events he photographed.” This clearly portrays the fact that being a photographer really changed his life. Not only physically but mentally. Because there is so much more to photography. From the article “The Civil War: The birth of photojournalism” Gave so much as to why pre-digital photographic technology affected photojournalism. For instance it states “Jeff Rosenheim, who heads the photography department…showed Teichner examples of portraits taken of Civil War soldiers. Photojournalism was born during the civil war.” In other words, if it weren’t their idea we and the rest of the world wouldn’t have never known how Wars looked like before and after. Photojournalism has now been taken to the top. Even since way back. Making big bucks off of taking valuable photos during those Wars.
